Privacy

pl.world is under construction. There are no user accounts or passwords. The only form is the one on the home page.

What we collect

Anonymous visit statistics in Google Analytics 4: page views, approximate location, device and browser type, and clicks on the e-mail address. Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga, _ga_*). Google signals and ad personalization are off and ad consent is denied. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, no statistics are collected.

The form on the home page saves what you type: what you are looking for or offering, the place, your answers to the questions, and your e-mail if you give it. The suggestions for cities and postal codes in the place field run on files from our own server (GeoNames data), so what you type there is not sent anywhere until you submit the form. The place field is pre-filled with an approximate city that our own server works out from your IP address using the DB-IP Lite database (no outside services, the script stores nothing); if that fails we use your browser time zone. You can change it. The data goes to the mailbox mail@pl.world and to storage on our server, and we keep it for up to 12 months. We use it to reply and to decide which businesses to add first. We do not sell it. On request we delete your data: write to mail@pl.world.

If you offer a business, we also save its name, or the link or number you paste, the business you picked from our list, your e-mail and, if you want to stand out in the results, your phone and your tick for text messages. We use them to check that you are the owner, update the listing and contact you about it. The business name suggestions run on files from our own server, so what you type in the box is not sent anywhere until you submit the form. We send text messages only if you tick the separate box.

Your first name is optional and we ask for it at the end of the form; we only use it to greet you by name.

Memory in your browser

The site remembers in your browser (localStorage, on this device only, nothing is sent to the server) the language you chose and how far you got in the form: your request, the place, your answers and, after you submit, your first name and e-mail if you gave them. That lets you continue when you come back and see a greeting with your name. A draft expires after 30 days. You can wipe it at any time with the "Start over" and "Not you?" links on the home page, or by clearing the site data in your browser.

The web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser, requested address).
