About

pl.world is meant to be a place for Poles around the world. The site is run by Media Express LLC in Chicago. For now only the home page (in English and Polish), this page, the FAQ and the privacy page are live. We note here what we are considering and what is done.

What we are considering

  • connecting people who look for something with businesses that offer it, by place
  • Polish and Polonia businesses for everyone, also for people outside the Polish community (an American looking for a Polish cleaner or a Polonia repair shop)
  • businesses and specialists who work on both sides of the ocean, for example lawyers in Poland and the USA or pension matters, with ratings from both markets and no invented reviews
  • classifieds: jobs, housing, events
  • Polish radio and news
  • an AI assistant at pl.world/ai
  • a community forum

None of this is live yet. The order and scope may change.

Change log

  • we registered the domain pl.world, launched the site with HTTPS, added the privacy page, this page and a note on the site operator (Media Express LLC, Chicago).
  • the home page now has a "What do you need?" box with the tabs Looking and Offering. We save requests and offers; nothing is matched automatically yet.
  • every page now has the Media Express logo, the site operator, at the top.
  • the "Where?" field now suggests cities worldwide (5,000 inhabitants and up) and postal codes from 16 countries, including the USA, Poland, Germany, the UK and Canada. It runs on GeoNames data from our own server, with no outside services.
  • we fixed submitting a request without an e-mail address. Before, such a submission ended in an error and the request was not saved.
  • we added a page with the most frequently asked questions (FAQ) in Polish and English. Searching, asking and details are free; paid listings for businesses will be optional and labeled.
  • the home page now presents itself as Polish World, a Polish network of businesses and people. The search box rotates example questions from many fields and in several languages.
  • the "Where?" field is now pre-filled with the city you open the page from (worked out from the IP address on our own server, no outside services) instead of a fixed Chicago.
